Get Ready For An International Tour! It’s Time for “Sync Around the World”!

September 19, 2014 – Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines – Syntactics, Inc. employees are preparing themselves for a tour around the world – in their own office! On September 22, 23, 24 and 27, 2014, Syntactics, Inc. is going to turn from an office to an international conference with the coming “Sync Around the World” activity!

This time the Applications Development Division of Syntactics, Inc. is organizing this weeklong event, with the theme “Coming together as we explore the world for our global future.” This activity is all centered on learning the unique traditions and cultures of different countries.

To start off with the excitement and preparations for the event, the leaders of each team (Red, Blue & Yellow) were asked to randomly pick the country they’ll be representing. The team countries are as follows:

  • Red: China
  • Blue: India
  • Yellow: Korea

Coincidentally, all three countries that were picked are Asian countries! So it’s not at all that far from home! After picking their respective countries, each team had their own meetings to assign participants for each game.

Speaking of games, Sync Around the World is just chock-full of them! Let’s get to know these events and see what’s in store for everyone!

Day 1 (September 22) – What The Fact?: This is the event’s Quiz Show, which requires 3 representatives from each team. The representatives will be tested on their stock knowledge of trivia and facts of different countries like their history, traditions, cultures, etc.

Day 1 - What The Fact

Day 2 (September 23) – Walk Around The World: With each team having 5 representatives, they will be playing a version of a beloved childhood board game: Snakes & Ladders. Like the regular Snakes & Ladders game, the roll of a die determines whether you are hindered or boosted towards your goal through a snake or a ladder, respectively. To put a little twist in this simple game though, the committee decided to mix it with Quiz Show elements. So the participants will also be asked questions about the different countries!

Day 2 - Walk Around The World

Day 3 (September 24) – Picture Out: This game requires 6 representatives and these representatives will also be asked an assortment of questions about famous places around the world. Here’s the twist though: this is a puzzle game, and the answer will come in the form of a puzzle and they have to solve it first before the game master declares a correct answer!

Day 3 - Picture Out

Day 4 (September 27) – Culminating Activity: The big day where everyone will get to wear the traditional clothing of the countries they picked! This is the weeklong event’s highlight, as it’ll have a variety show where teams will portray how well they immersed themselves in their country of choice through these following activities:

  • Musical – Each team has a solo performer who will sing an original song from the country of their choice and in their country’s native language, of course!
  • Dance Extravaganza – For this activity, 5-10 members of each country will be performing an authentic dance from their country.
  • The Country Tales – This is an activity that also needs 5-10 members, and they’ll be dramatizing popular foreign folklore of the countries they picked.

That isn’t ALL of the events either! There’s one more! While all those group activities are going on, the committee thought of one INDIVIDUAL game called the Photo Assassin!

Photo Assassin is a running game, from September 22-25. This game starts with everyone picking a name from a box, the name they picked must remain a secret and this name is their “target”.

The concept of this game is that everyone is an assassin, and they must “capture” their target by taking a candid photo of them! The target should not notice that his/her photo is being taken. In addition, pictures should be taken inside Syntactics Office premises except in the Comfort Room.

“We chose this theme because we wanted to conduct a fun way of presenting different facts, traditions and cultures around the world to the Syntactics family. So we can all equip ourselves with this knowledge while we continuously progress to become more globally-competitive, expanding our services to cater to more diverse people across the globe.” – Aubrey Virtudes, Committee Representative

The purpose of this corporate activity is for everyone in the company to get to know each other better and show off their skills in teamwork. This event is also essential in establishing camaraderie, which can eventually result in better and more harmonious work relationships.

Everyone is just excited for the chance to become international delegates for this activity. So guys, let’s pack our packs, and go Sync Around the World!
