The Faster The Better: Four Tips That Can Help You Speed Up Your Website’s Loading Time

They say that patience is a virtue, but they also say that patience is a virtue a lot of people do not have. This is especially true when it comes to using the internet and getting the needed information. The internet and the many websites it hosts have become a go-to place for people. Most of them are looking for information or a product they cannot find anywhere else. With that said, creating a website has become a necessity for businesses to extend their brand’s reach, but only if they can keep their designs up to speed. I am talking about literal website speed and not just keeping up with web design trends, even if that is pretty important too.

The faster your website loads the faster the customer gets information/access to your product/services. As a result, a faster website will eventually lead to a happy customer and hopefully a happy businessman too.

Now, you might be sitting in front of your computer thinking that your web design’s loading speed is fast enough. However, have you checked if it is the same for an iPhone? Or any other Smartphone or tablet for that matter?

If you really wish to have a fast loading website speed for all internet-accessible gadgets, here are a few tips you might want to keep in mind:
  • Remove any broken links or unnecessary tags on your website that are optimized for loading time. These are errors that can slow down your website, so get rid of them the moment you see them! Remember that an error-free website is a fast website!
  • All the images you are using or plan to use on your website have to be optimized! Optimizing images means you are compressing them so their sizes are a lot smaller, thus they load faster! A good example of how optimized images contribute to a faster loading website is Facebook. The type of image files you need to use are compressed JPG files. PNG and bitmap files take a long time to load (especially bitmap files).
  • Use CDNs or Content Delivery Networks and put that to good use! Using a CDN will deliver the website’s static files to servers that are close to a user’s physical location. Examples of these static files are website images, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Even if optimizing images is a great way to speed up your website, it is also advisable to minimize the use of images in the first place. Images can greatly add more color to a website and for customers having a clearer idea on what your products might be like, but do not overdo it.

Nowadays, it is important to keep up with our current fast-paced environment.  It is important to have these tips in mind. Also, you can always try to look for other helpful tips as well. By doing these, you may have a fast website speed for good business!
